Lounge and Break-Out Spaces Renovations
Manning, in a joint venture with Eskew+Dumez+Ripple, is renovating 36 spaces in the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center known as “I-Coves”, which formerly housed phone booths. The existing I-Coves are currently underutilized and will be used as lounge and breakout space for difference sized groups and individuals which will provide opportunity for advertisement or art work. These spaces will create functional and visually attractive places of respite for convention attendees, and provide points of interest along the current long corridors.
The goal of making these spaces more useful will be achieved through aesthetics and function. Aesthetically, the design will incorporate scenes from New Orleans history in chronological order as they walk through the building, providing users an experience as they move from different events through the facility. Functionally, electrical upgrades will accommodate new technology for convention guests to use to charge devices.
